Article marketers generally understand that keyword stuffing results in content being penalized by Google, and will try to include keywords naturally and a reasonable number of times within the text.

When I'm writing an article I use the main keyword in the first paragraph and again in the final paragraph. How many times it appears in the middle section depends on article length and the number of other keywords used in the same piece.

I've been told that placing keywords at the start and finish is effective for SEO. If it's true, I would be interested to know why, and I wonder how many article writers make the effort to do this.

I use my main long tail keyword in the first one hundred words of my content. In the body or second paragraph , i repeat once again my target keywords and once more in the concluding paragraph.

I use the keyword a couple of times in the article. I try to get it once in the title, the introduction paragraph and in the conclusion. This allows me to have a good balance of the articles, but it also allows me to have the LSI keywords blended into the body of the article.

For your content, you should place the keywords on the following areas:
    1. Title or heading of your article
    2. Subtitle or sub-headings
    3. First paragraph
    4. Middle paragraph/s
    5. Concluding paragraph
    6. Tags section

Nota bene: Don't forget the anchor texts.

For additional optimization, particularly if you intend to publish the article on a page in your website, place the keyword on these HTML sections:
    1. meta title
    2. meta description
    3. meta keywords
    4. H1, H2, H3 headers and so on
    5. alt tag (if the article comes with a picture)
    6. picture file name

These days, effective keyword research is an increasingly important skill for digital marketers. Not only do they need to know how to develop a good keyword list for PPC and SEO, but smart content marketers use keyword research to find out what topics they should write about and what phrases they should use while writing.
