    The meta tag provides metadata about the HTML document. Metadata will not be displayed on the page, but will be machine parsable.
    A meta tag is a tag in the Html that describes about the contents of a Web page. The information that you provide in a meta tag is used by search engines to index a page so that someone searching for the kind of information the page contains will be able to find it. The meta tag is placed near the top of the HTML in a Web page as part of the heading.

    Meta tags are usually referred as tags of page data which sits between opening and closing head tags of a document's HTML code. Actually these are hidden keywords who sits in the code.
