I've been using Pinterest for business promotion purposes for close to a year now. I've had some legitimate followers and likes thanks to the frequent inspirational posts. I'm not sure about this social network's conversion abilities, though. My question is: how effective is Pinterest in comparison with Facebook and Twitter?

I'd really like to know what you think. Thanks.

Facebook is still the best at conversion in my opinion. Most people at Pinterest are just there to browse pictures whereas FB has a subsection and subculture of an actual marketplace that you can utilize and use to your advantage as a business owner.

I think it depends on what you are selling ... Pinterest is a highly visual experience. Individuals selling products that require a great graphic to admire, do very well out of it.

As for inspirational posts, you have given me something to think about. I am guessing that you have them presented very attractively. I am not whether you are trying to sell inspiration products or if it is part of your marketing strategy to sell something else.

Bottom line, just my opinion, it depends what you are selling as to which Social Media has more impact.

I agree with you. I like the idea and you can get some legitimate followers, but as with Instagram, I don't see it really converting to sales. Twitter is still my favorite for finding new customers and having real conversations with them. I think it really depends on what your product is. If you have a food or clothing company, those picture-based sites are probably better than reading a tweet.

In my opinion, Facebook is the best social media site to utilize for business. However, it all depends on what specific goal or task you are trying to accomplish. For example, you mentioned that you only use Pinterest for promotion purposes. That's not a bad idea, but maybe having a Facebook page to act as a primary social media site to assist in other areas, such as conversions.

Pinterest has it's loyal followers, so if you can make it with them you're set. As said above, Facebook and Twitter are still the power players when it comes to your business with Facebook still taking the lead in my opinion.

I have to agree with Lynette. Use of social networking site or anything else it is always depends on the product which you are selling. For some it proves a golden mine and for some its not.

I think it would depend on the niche. You need to figure out where the people are who are interested in your niche, and get in front of them. I've heard of people driving a lot of traffic from Pinterest, but they were in a niche that was suitable for Pinterest users, which are mostly female.

Lynette is correct. Pinterest can be great for businesses with products or services that are visual. I have a friend who sells bandanas on Pinterest and Instagram. She does very well. She posts pictures of her friends and customers wearing the bandanas.

Pinterest is a great addition to your Facebook page, especially if you have products or services that are visual. I don't think that Pinterest is good if it is just standing alone; however, using it in addition to having a Facebook page is great! It's an awesome tool that can enhance your business.

I love Pinterest! Its a great creative outlet; people can use it to gather inspiration for events, crafts, etc. I even used it once for a college project in my Creative Fashion Presentation class.

I think pinterest is not only a great way to network and promote your business but they also have some great information from all over the internet. The way they made it so easy to share entire web pages has changed posting entirely.
