Affiliate programs are a great way to monetize a website. You need to be careful of “Money making Programs” that claim to be affiliates. If the “Program” does not have a product other than down line or new signup’s then it is not an affiliate but a pyramid scheme. You should remember that pyramid schemes are illegal and if you knowingly take part in these and help to advertise them you can be held criminally responsible.

Although I am aware of these(and more) scams, many are not, and I feel obligated to share your article on other sites. Thanks for the post. ;)
 
The Pay to Click and other Bux related sites are a good example of a Scam that several people may be "sucked up" in..

I signed up to a Pay to Click (BUX) website, just to see whether I would get paid.. I didn't, But I was not surprised; and I always make sure I never enter financial details on such websites.

Some great advice. Zeek Rewards is the latest example of what to avoid. I just notice that the Global 1 who is now signing members is built on the same type of penny auction platform as Zeek.
 
Always carry out due diligence on any program you are looking to join, post some questions on the forums and you will soon discover if a program is dodgy.
 
Google Adsense is the best paying
Hostgator pays $50 per sign on
Commission Junction is honest and reputable.
Bidvertiser will pay

all require high traffic to make any money at all though.

Hello,

Thanks for the two suggestions you mentioned. I'm checking out the European business network but am a little concerned about hit-leap because it is an auto-surf, and people are encouraged to avoid auto-surf. Any info as to why?
 
These days ppc/ cpc and cpm both can be scams because people use bots and automated softwares which generate the trafic and clicks on the sites, so one should be very careful before choosing the right affilate or advertising network.,

thanks a ton ,i am new in internet marketing and recently started few websites so slowly knowing about it . thanks for the help .
 
There's a saying "If after 5 minutes you can't tell what the product is then you are a product". It's that easy to detect a pyramid scheme. If there's no actual product involve other than recruiting more people to the program then you are the product and only the ones at the top of the pyramid will be making money from you and many more who sign up under them.
 
Technically,

A Pyramid Scheme can be carried out with and without an end product being involved. It is the structure on the "members" system and sales that construe together a Pyramid Scheme.

This is great advice for anyone trying to drive honest and well-meaning traffic to their sites. I have had problems with sites like this in the past. I have learned that you really have to do your research. If you find something that you think might be worth a shot - chances are someone else has tried it and posted somewhere about their experiences. Better to be safe than sorry.
 
Great information!

It is unfortunate when a decent site run by an honest person to be overrun be a bogus affiliate program. I am still amazed how ignorant some webmaster are of these pyramid scheme style programs that often make a website difficult to navigate.

I've seen pyramid schemes where there is a product involved several times, one I can remember was some new and "revolutionary" soda that were being sold in bulk for what amounted to $2.00 + for a simple 12 oz of citrus flavored soda for those who 'bought' into the program. They had a great motivational speaker that was able to sell boxes of the soda and 'memberships' to the ill informed.
 
The worst pyramid scheme I've seen is the one from a product called Plug-In-Profits (or PIPS). Basically you have to pay about 5 monthly fees: one to the hosting provider and four to be able to promote some products and then you need to go out and sell the idea to other people that they need to get into that program and promote that products. Then you get your affiliate cash. But there's anything of value on that products. It's just the idea that promoting them you'll make money.
