For blogger, fastest way to get organic traffic is to write on what is trending currently. You can refer to google.com/trends/hottrends (USA) or google.com.sg/trends/hottrends (Singapore). Trending topic will give your site a chance to be found as long as it is the latest entry but it is not a permanent traffic as readers are news follower. For huge permanent organic traffic, use google keyword tool and search for a topic that has massive amount of search every month. Write exactly the keyword that google keyword tool suggested to you with an original article. Then put in videos, images, social sharing icons and tell a friend plugin. If possible, get like 9 or 10 high PR backlinks (PR6 and above). You shall see your blog ranked highly by Google.

I wrote an article on "How to commit suicide" and I got top 5 in Google. "How to commit suicide" has over 600,000 search every month. Go and search in google "How to commit suicide" and you can find my blog.
 
Yup totally agree. Get a real host and domain.
Also a few other things I picked up on. For SEO purposes your site should have good on-page seo before you start looking at your off-page seo. Using SEO Doctor Addon in Mozilla it gives your site a 57% rating and explains the reasons.
Im not sure if you are able to sort this using blogspot but there are some great platforms out there such as wordpress and joomla that could really be worth looking into that have great seo advantages.
And like Dillon says some great keyword targeted content will get you to the top.

SEO is a good way of continuous traffic.. Facebook and twitter are good for generating traffic but if you promote your web from these social networks this will required more and continuous efforts ..
