I need people who can help me replace Facebook. Can you help?

I have a social media website here- http://frendsdom.com. I admit it might not impress you or you may end up saying "dude ! it needs lot of work". But what I know is it has strength and potentials to be next big thing.

Basically, I want to form a team of passionate people to take Frendsdom to whole new level and eventually replace Facebook as general purpose social networking. I've been focusing on its marketing and raising funds for that.

I have been to a number of angel investors sites but haven't really found anyone yet.

Do you have any idea where I can find "real investors" or kind of people I am looking for?

Thank you a lot for reading this !

I do hope you find investors to help you out. You are one to take feedback very seriously - just had another peek in today. The member count is certainly growing, but there needs to be more who are regularly active. I'll start and pop in a bit more often and stir-up some conversations - you've a good little feature there to help out with that ;)

If you are looking for investors then you'll need to find a way to get in contact with businesses but you'll need to provide them something more than just potential. If you can prove to them that your site is profitable then it would become easier to find people willing to put money into it.

Any idea where to start from if I am seriously looking for investment? It would be great.

You could try some local sites and see if any of the owners might be willing to listen. You could also try and look for some local businesses hoping to get some marketing or advertising done, and they could be as related or unrelated to your industry as long as you know both of you could work towards the same goal, but of course it would be easier if the investor already is knowledgable in the path ahead and is trustworthy. Like I said though, probably no investor will even consider having a meeting with you and giving you their time unless you have some solid proof that you are able to bring them in profits if they ever do choose to partner with you, not just in terms of potential but actual profit on hand.

I have to say, trying to go head to head with Facebook is hard. I belong to several different websites that are supposed to compete with Facebook, but they always fizzle out. One of them was even sharing revenue with users and it still died off.

I visited your site and even searched a little about this on Google. The outlook looks good to me, quite impressive.

On Quora (may be you or someone else) posted about how it's making money. It's not good to post content or adding topic on sites like Quora where most of the tech guys are available like Jimmy Wales, the founder of wikipedia, until you don't have proper business plan, sales or users.

Through free traffic calculator, I came to know this site is not getting visitors on everyday basis. You need to work hard for users acquisition.

Angel.co profile is perfect to attract investors while some content posted ( on startup pitching sites ) and I must say if you don't have traffic and users with consistent growth ratio, you won't get funds from angel investor. Better work on the business plan and show the site as framework. If the site is live, they would ask to see the growth in terms of user registration.

At nystartuphub.com, you mentioned and compared with facebook which a negative point. Investors want to know about new things, comparing this way won't help.

Social profiles have been neglected, while domain was registered in 2012.

Conclusion (As Suggestion): While keeping same entrepreneurial spirit start working on the project. Hire a growth hacker on equity sharing basis(if you don't want to pay), angel.co is the best where you can find a co-founder. Don't try to compete with facebook until you don't have users and growth or both along with funds and keep rolling. This is an awesome project to go with.

Disclaimer: this is an old thread, posted in 2013 but appeared here due to recent activity. I'm just trying to mention the points where you should work for business growth.

Most luck for you. Looks promising but I kinda doubt it will replace facebook. Facebook was new and inovating at the time and it brought something new to the market.

I'm working on getting a lot of my stuff set up online in regards to building up a graphic design business and streaming. I would be 100% happy to help build your site up as long as you give me support in return. I'll definitely join and check it out to see how I can help.

Edit; something I noticed right off it the log in... If you're looking to beat out Facebook, why do you have the option to log in with facebook?

You have mighty big goals if you plan on trying to knock FB out of the top social networking spot. I wish you the best of luck with that.

@deepak057

While skimming through other comments, I noticed funding is focal point for you at the moment. I would definitely look into some crowdfunding sites. It would be a great place to try and obtain earnings, and it would also be a great place to spread awareness and get the name out there.

Secondly and in all honesty, I think you shouldn't make "replacing Facebook" a milestone to achieve and surpass. Facebook is definitely a household name that I don't think can ever be replaced. Maybe better or outdone, possibly over exceeded, but not replaced. With that being said, on this given day and time, I don't believe Facebook would realistically even be your biggest "competitor", so to speak. Some seem to think that Facebook, in all its glory, is slowly, but surely declining, which I tend to agree with. These other sites, referencing Twitter, InstaGram, Pinterest, SnapChat are swiftly hitting their stride and reaching their peak in huge ways. In my opinion, these are the "cream of the crop" sites that are demanding everyone's divided and undivided attention at the moment. I didn't even mention Google+!!

All in all, you have some mountains to move, @deepak057, but only you have your vision. Best wishes with your endeavors.

It will take a lot of will and funding to unseat Facebook. it is still improbable, but hey you can do your best with it. What are your features that differentiate it from all the other social media sites. Also, you can think of being a complement to FB instead. You can read on entrepreneurship sites for ideas.
