What is the uses of directory submissions ?

    What is the uses of directory submissions ? can anyone post free directory submission sites ?

    This is a really good site that lists many good directories: www.directorycritic.com

    When it comes to submission sites, I have no good recommendation. Anyone else that can help us with this?

    In that site more directory sites are not working and paid only....

    directories also gives a back links to site.the more back links is important for any website

    I like to submit to about 10-15 directories a week (free of course)because I don't want to get "slapped" by Google for directory or link spamming. I have also recently gotten into article submissions which is a nice way to get good back-links through anchor text. I'm no writer, myself, so I use the talented folks at Iwriter.com to provide content.

    Submitting to Directories actually serves a few purposes. If you have a retail location, submitting to the right directories will bolster your Google Places listing, something every retail business should have. Google checks with over 90 directories to confirm your company info. I use Localeze.com to do the Google-critical listings, then use Dynamic Submission (or IB9 if you like) to get the rest.
    WARNING - Do not submit to FFA (Free For All) links, these are usually spam farms and ignored by Google / Yahoo / Bing anyway. Happy SEOing!

    When the matter is about improving your page rank, prefered first to submit sites like dmog.org or ipl or something like these. And then continue to submit normal directories. I have a few collection of directories here which is free and from different c class ip addresses.

    All the directories were from normal pr and recently updated 2011-2012..

    I use directories because they are all counted as inbound links by the search engines. I recommend IntelliSeek.com, LandofLinks.com, and Cipinet.com to start with. DMOZ is very slow to add links, and no longer very useful.

    The best software to help you submit to directories is SubmitEaze (affiliate link).
