That's my question, too. Plus, how did you get sooo many fans and followers? Help!

That's an impressive number of fans and followers! :) Maybe someone else can help us with some practices when it comes to generating engagement from these fans and followers?

What we did was the basics and alittle advertising. Sent a request to all freinds of employees, made sure teh facebook link is on our website. Did some facebooka dvertising to generate interest. Did a facebook giveaway, try to place informative posts and incorporate our emailings with our social networking. we have hit a snag at the 1000 mark and want to up the fans to 2000 by next year.

Start making multiple pages, 'I love my pet' , 'My pet is the world to me'... and many more.
Then invite all your friends to all these pages.
Like each page from other page, so people see an update everytime, keep it active.
Your userbase will shoot from 1,000 to 10,000 in 10 days. I've used that method hundreds of time, and still works like a charm.
Nothing like driving user engagement. :)

    With due respect,

I just started an ad campaign on Facebook. I'm real interested to see how it performs since, unlike the other campaigns I'm running, I was able to aim it at a very specific demographic market.

Well @JPA , I wish you best of luck with your new facebook campaign, but could you be a bit more specific about the type of website and advert you are using?
So we can give you our suggestions about any simple tweaks that may be required.

I market wood kitchen and dining room products, cutting boards, butcher blocks, etc. My target demographic is: women 30 to 50 years, married with kids, some college and interested in cooking and dining. Normally I run CPC campaigns but, this time I'm going with CPM (for a few days).

@Simone - Thank you for trusting my advice... You'll see success soon :)
@JPA - CPM is something new for me, I too used to stick to CPC ads, let us know what you see ;)
I'm sure people are loving this new forum, less hatred for a change

Nice looking site! You and I both market kitchen accessories.......Hmmmmmmm:rolleyes: You may want to offer PayPal and Google Checkout as payment methods. The goal is to make it as easy as possible for folks to spend their money.;)

Facebook & Twitter engagement is sometimes very daunting. I have a couple of facebook fan pages (1x for my IT Solutions business and 1x for my video production company) that I want to drive traffic too. Quite often I suggest to friends they check my page out and become a fan but still no success with growing numbers.
What are some tips to help engage my audience and drive more fans???

We buy Facebook ads to get fans - about .32 per fan. We tried FB ads sending to our website but we had a high bounce rate. make sure you "Fangate" get the "Like" before they are allowed to see you wall. We use Tabsite for $5.00/mo - In 2 years we've grown to just under 5,000 fans.

We get the same traffic to our site using FB ads sending them to our fan page because our fan page is the same name of our site they go there after liking us anyway . I feel a .32 click for a fan coming over from FB is dirt cheap even if they don;t buy. 20% of our traffic is direct so i know they're coming back eventually thus it's an investment for the future. All of the changes FB has made are clearly aimed at opening up ecommerce - which is why the switch to an https protocol.

We post 3 - 10 times a day 7 days a week - lots of engaging video and we toss out thought provoking questions (for our niche) which leads to a lot of comments.

I call FB the "shiny key" portal. Post an informative 800 word essay on a relevant topic and get 3 likes. A 1:02 video of baby birds playing and we get 20 likes and 6 shares.

Google and Bing are looking for engagement if you want ranking

We have a Like box on our site which brings in a dozen fans a month.

If you want one, find it here:

    http://developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/plugins/like-box/

I feel in the next 1 -3 years FB will pay off for eCommerce merchants who have paid their due diligence.

If you have a bird come on by and Like us or Like us to see the page

    Fan page
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/WindyCityParrotcom/132634323919

Place page - for our store
    http://www.facebook.com/pages/Windy-City-Parrot-Birdie-Boutique/168007783213240

Although we have over 6,000 Twitter followers we see no traffic to our eCommerce site. Blog posts and the like get Tweeted - i think Twitter is too "noisy" for small ecommerce mechants

I have to agree with "noisy" I have only 100 followers and already see my posts disappear off the face of the earth in about 15 minutes.
